President

Job Summary

The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer of IACCA. In that capacity, the President is authorized to take any reasonable action necessary to ful fill the expressed mission of IACCA within the spirit and letter of the Articles and By - Laws, and the policies approved by the Board of Directors and confirmed by the membership.

Organizational Relationship:

The President is elected by the membership for a term as follows: one year as President elect, two years as President (may stand for re-election to one consecutive term) and one year as Past President. In the event of a vacancy in this position, the Vice President shall succeed to the Presidency unless there is a sitting President - Elect, who then automatically assumes the office of President.

Accountability:

The President is responsible to the membership.

Responsibilities:

Ensures that IACCA is operated in a manner that honors the Articles and By - Laws both in act and in form, and directs their review/revision by the Board of Directors every four years or as needed.

Presides at official meetings of the membership, the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.

Represents IACCA to other groups and at their gatherings as appropriate; acts as the chief spokesperson for IACCA to the public, press and other related organizations.

Convenes the Board of Directors at least once annually, establishes the agenda with the input of committee chairs and other directors, and oversees implementation of indicated actions.

Initiates an annual review of the Strategic Plan by the Board of Directors and the membership.

Informs the membership of Board activities and decisions, via the newsletter, Annual Meeting Report, web site, and other communications as required.

Appoints chairpersons for standing committees and special task forces as needed.

Holds accountable the elected officers and Directors, appointed committee chairpersons and the Executive Director for the successful discharge of their responsibilities in serving the needs of the members and the organization.

Facilitates review, revision, documentation and approval of fiscal and membership policies and procedures, job descriptions and other operating policies, every four years as required.

Qualifications:

Member in good standing of the International Association of Conference Center Administrators.

The President must have been a member of IACCA for a t least four years, must have attended at least three IACCA Conferences, and must have some prior volunteer experience with IACCA.

Strong communication, negotiation and leadership skills. Experience serving on other non - profit Boards and/or Committees.

Available to travel to attend two Board of Directors meetings annually (fall meeting at Annual Conference and spring meeting location TBD) and to participate in monthly Board conference calls (non - conference travel paid by IACCA)

Able to spend an average o f 10 - 12 hours/month on IACCA business.


President Elect

Job Summary:

The President Elect prepares to assume the responsibilities of the President.

Organizational Relationship:

The President Elect is elected by the membership one year in advance of assuming the Presidency for a two year term.

Accountability:

The President Elect reports to the President.

Responsibilities:

Familiarizes himself/herself with all aspects of the President's responsibilities.

Serves as a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

>Acts as chairperson of the Nomination Committee in the year that there is no Past President.

Performs other duties as assigned by the President.

Assumes the Presidency if the sitting President is unable to serve.

Qualifications:

Member in good standing of the International Association of Conference Center Administrators.

The President-Elect must have been a member of IACCA for at least four years, must have attended at least three IACCA Conferences, and must have some prior volunteer experience with IACCA.

Strong communication, negotiation and leadership skills.

Experience serving on other non-profit Boards and/or Committees.
