I'm curious about how others are thanking their volunteers. What do you do that is unique and was well received by your volunteers?

I am not sure if it is unique, but I have discovered you can not say "thanks" enough. We do meals, awards, one on one thanks, notes of thanks and public recognitions in newsletters, etc.

I would say we don't do near enough. A blanket thank you in a constant contact email blast, with a few people mentioned by name. we've talked about a recognition dinner, but have never gotten past talking.

One thing we do in addition to notes, etc., is give our Fall volunteers a plate of home-made holiday goodies.  Volunteers at our fall work day receive a thank you card which they bring to church two weeks before Christmas. There they claim a decorative box or platter loaded with festive cookies and candies fresh from our kitchen.  This has become such a popular tradition we don't think we could change it!
